Depends on why it is sore. It may require a filling, it may require a root conduit or it may require extraction. A tooth can only withstand a certain amount of disintegration. In the simplest terms, the more decay, the more extensive the treatment become. Which also means, the longer you leave it untreated the more treatment you are credible to need.
You need to see a dentist. Unlike much of the human body, teeth do not make well themselves. It will continue to hurt and the pain will catch progressively worse. Get in as soon as possible. In the meantime, ibuprofen is your best bet for the pain. Oragel will not aid tooth pain much, it only numbs the gum tissues.
