How long can I dawdle after a root waterway since getting a crown??

I had an infection in my chin following my root canal. The endodontist thought a crack in the root is possible. but we won't know how to tell unless the infection comes back. The dentist however, wishes to put a crown on. I don't want to put that kind of money into it if it's just going to own to be extracted 6 months down the road...
Hopefully I'll get some knowledgeable answers... After I told the dentist the concern he said the tooth will return with brittle if I don't get the crown, so it's up to me when to come and get it done.
Thanks for your back! ;)

Hi, if you have had root waterway treatment done then wait a few months to ensure in that is no remaining infection. Up to 6 months is not unreasonable. However, I agree with your dentist that the tooth is weaker and more liable to fracture, however it would be unwise to hold an expensive crown done and then have problems from the root treatment. Hope this help..
Tough call. I've been getting alot of complicated Dental Work done lately Myself, -so I KNOW where on earth You're "coming from..." Tell You what I'D do... -I'd WAIT until July to see if the Infection returned... If it HASN'T, then go ahead & carry that Crown. Crowns are just TOO EXPENSIVE these days- to risk having to throw Your $$$ away. Good luck! :)
