Next week im getting braces and im very excited about getting them but I have this friend who have already teased me saying that I wont be able to smile within the ball photos next year and things like that. I dream up it will be worse when I go to the school after having them fitted and she see's me near them. What can I say to make her stop saying things approaching that when I have them fitted?

Kids are gonna be mean just about braces no matter what. As for your friend..simply smile wide at her and show off your braces. When I get mine..people called me train tracks, tin grin, razor mouth, magnet attraction...the index goes on. I simply smiled at them and thanked them for the compliment. Explain to your friend that you're happy to be getting your braces because when they come sour your teeth will look a lot better and you'll have a beautiful smile. Wow, that's pretty low of her friend, especially if her teeth aren't perfect any. I mean, it's not your problem you don't have perfect teeth, we be just born that way. (I'm also getting braces very soon)

You can still smile, and MANY students own braces, so she might as well make fun of everyone. She's probably insecure too.

Just tell her, they're purely braces, they'll be off soon, and who said you can't smile with braces?

Smile real big, make her look into your mouth and show her adjectives your hardware. That will help both you and her get over it. Lots of people will give attention to you look at hot as heck so don't worry about it one bit.

Now being serious, if she's a REAL friend explain to her that you would appreciate that she doesn't craft fun of you because it's not very nice.
