Can anyone recommend a gel or cream to numb my gum from severe headache from have a tooth out?

Hi,
I recently had my tooth out, and adjectives seemed well but in a minute 4 days later i am in real agony the pain is unbearable. It is getting so much on my nerves. I a moment ago want to rip my gum out of my mouth.

I have taken pain killer ( 2X co-codomol) and this is having minimal effect. I have be taking these for the last 5 days and it is just as unpromising
Futhermore,my gum is still rather inflammed and extremely painful.
As a situation of fact there is a short time spot on the area which is most effected its close to even with a slight touch with my tounge no pressure, its similar to a knife going straight through the gum
I hope someone can understand what sort of stomach-ache I am going throuh and it would be greatly appreciated if someone can recommend something
Is there anything like a gel which can numb your gums resembling what they use in the dentist needles, but it is available at the chemist?
Thanks
Ben

Sounds to me like you hold Dry Socket. Without being treated this will hurt for a few weeks. Treatment is really simple. It usually consists of gently flushing out the socket, conceivably getting a little bleeding going again to form a blood clot, and placing a medication called Alvogyl inside the socket that will cause it feel better. You usually only requirement to do this once, but sometimes it takes a couple of applications of the medication.
Not much else will help you.
Dry Socket is an inflammation of the bone that occur 3-4 days after a tooth extraction. So, you will feel reasonably all right after the extraction for a few days, but all of a sudden around the 4th day you will get hold of an excruciating pain. It is not an infection, but an inflammation. It is because either a blood clot does not form, or is lost, and the bone is vanished open and gets inflammed..
Orajel is good.
